100 Employees!

The Mile High WorkShop was launched in February 2014. Over the last 4.5 years, the WorkShop team has worked really hard to provide great training and build a functional business model. As an organization we’ve partnered with over 340 businesses and have earned over $1 million in production revenue.

In that same time span, over 165 donors have given over half a million dollars to support our work. That’s individuals, churches, businesses and foundations in Denver and around the country – thank you!

Let’s quickly reflect on those numbers and point out that for every dollar we’ve raised through donations, our training participants have matched that one dollar with 2 dollars through their production activities. We’d say that’s a pretty good return on investment! And just to rephrase that one more time, we’ve covered about 2/3 of our entire operational expenses through the production work of our program employees.

But what’s it all for? We don’t exist to just make cool stuff or to tell a good financial story, we exist for the good of people in our community. We do all of this work so that we can hire and support people like our very first employee who delivered Juvo Water back in July 2014 and every employee since then, all the way up to our recently hired 100th employee!!

Of those 100 people, we have a few different ways of looking at the “success” of our work together. Recidivism is the lowest bar we’re looking to clear – Colorado has about a 50% recidivism rate, meaning that about half of the people who exit incarceration are reincarcerated again within a few years. Of the 100 people we’ve employed, only 5 have been rearrested so we feel like we’re doing a great job of at least helping folks stay out of jail and prison.

Then we’re looking at who left their time with us to a job and is still working. To date, out of everyone who’s worked for us and left, a little over half of those folks are still employed and doing well.

So that’s a bit about what’s happened in the last 4.5 years. We feel really proud of the work we’ve done together and hope you do too.

But don’t just take our word for it: here’s a few years of local news clips mashed into one fun highlight reel!
